Here's what I was working on at the beginning of the weekend;
And i finished it
I had hoped to finish this AND work on the reindeer. But I really only had a few hours on Saturday, and as usual I under estimated the time it took to finish something. This gypsy (which I hope will appear in ECS magazine early next year), had more back stitching than I usually put in designs, as I don't particularly like stitching it. But I saw a very old post card of a gypsy with a scarf around her waist with stripes and I had to have it in this design. As it was such a small design (about 100 stitches high?) Back sitthcing was the only way I could really portray the stripes.
Anyway, I hope you like it. I'm very pleased with how she turned out. You can't really see the gold thread and beads I used to add dimension and sparkle to it in the photo.
See you next time (one more post before Christmas I should think)

The Gypsy is gorgeous. You did a great stitching job. Congratulations on your finish.

Wow, that's a lot of stitching, and it looks really cool! Congrats on getting her done!
ReplyDeleteWow you got lots of stitching done.Great finish.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! You got sooo much done in a weekend - well done. And I love the striped sash.
ReplyDeleteI hear you about backstitching but as you say it's a necessary evil at times. She looks fantastic, lovely design. The scarf and the swirls in her skirt look great!
